Launched in 2014 by the Kulturfabrik, Kufa’s Urban Art, a project both pedagogical and artistic in nature, has met with great success and rapidly spread across the borders. In 2015 the initiators decided to pursue the adventure, widen their horizon and go for the long haul: firmly establish urban art in the Greater Region, with Luxembourg at its center and including adjacent regions of Belgium, Germany and France.

This year, Kufa’s Urban Art project, was focus in one city : Esch-sur-Alzette - European Capital of Culture in 2022.

With this project we want to expand and transform the image of the city by using the creative potential of our region and giving Esch and the region back a well deserved prospect for the future. Thus, the intention of our project is to improve not only the image of the city and the region, but also the cultural offer and citizens’ participation that represent over 100 different nationalities.

The 2018 edition of Kufa’s Urban Art Esch proposed 4 months of action (April till July) and many hours of work and play. The program for 2018 featured awareness as well as participatory, interdisciplinary, intergenerational and inclusive workshops. There was also artistic interventions in the public spaces and, to close the festivities, a festival at Kulturfabrik. A series of measures to reinforce social cohesion and transform the urban life in a perspective of a more dynamic Esch City will be taken.

Come to the Kufa’s Urban Art stand at On Stéitsch to discover more about the project and know how you can be involved :-)
